Women and Girl Sports and Development Officer

London Tigers, an award-winning charity delivering innovative programmes through a regular presence in schools, housing-estates and working with disadvantaged or socially excluded groups in society, through crime reduction and health and well-being initiatives and community based football/sports coaching sessions based in Southall (UB1 2AR), Ealing, is looking for someone who is passionate about developing opportunities for South Asian and BAME women and girls to participate in multi-sports activities.

Within this role you will be developing and managing football/cricket/sports and youth work development programmes encourage “girls only” activities.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational mentor, with football background focusing on girls and young women’s participation and who is passionate about the importance of sport and exercise for all children and young people’s wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

* To manage and coordinate a range of female orientated programmes that support more women and girls across football, cricket and physical activity in particular from South Asian and BAME communities.

* Work with London Tigers colleagues to recruit volunteers and develop a pool of volunteers for all London Tigers programmes.

* Develop London Tigers presence in designated areas of Southall, such as; Ealing by delivering taster sessions in schools, attend community events and distribute marketing information as well as working with governing bodies such as County FA, Middlesex Cricket, London Sport, London Youth and others.

* To develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and parents, The FA, London Tigers Women, schools and relevant partners in order to create a high quality Football, Cricket and physical activity opportunities for Women and Girls across Southall and Ealing and create events and festivals increasing participation such as sports days, Womens international day.

* Effectively recruit & manage a team of part time casual coaches delivering across a number of community settings, including school-based programme both in Primary and Secondary Schools and develop Football/sports Holiday activities.

* Further develop links with primary and secondary schools, to offer a range of sport and football programmes in and out of curriculum time for female participants and manage effectively all administrative task of all Women and Girl programmes including surveys, feedback and producing timely impact reports.

* Ensure that all requirements related to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Safeguarding are implemented and comply with London Tigers policies and procedures, in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all young people, staff and volunteers involved in the various programmes.

* Undertake any other relevant duties related to furthering the development, promotion and sustainability of the organisation as set by the Senior Management team. Work with Senior Management team and colleagues, when appropriate, on wide funding streams, commissioning, grants and tenders.

Person Specification

Essential

* Relevant degree level qualifications in Sport, Exercise and/or Youth Work; FA Level 1 football coaching qualification

* A further Level 1 or above on Cricket and other sport/youth work activity based qualification. Skills, ability & knowledge

* Minimum experience of two years within a sport or youth work setting with significant experience of delivering sports programmes and experience of working in partnership with a range of voluntary and statutory sector partners

* A strong understanding of women’s sport and the barriers faced by girls and young women in accessing sport and in developing their sporting/exercise habits in particular South Asian and BME communities.

* Understanding of the health needs facing young people in London and demonstrable knowledge of how to address these needs and experience of developing and managing football or Cricket/sports development programmes leading to football and cricket club participation, managing football/sport delivery staff either full time or part time/volunteers

* Admin and IT skills using softwares including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

* A proven track record of working as a team, understanding of funding opportunities and reporting all KPIs and staying on target and creating new initiatives

* A good level of practical marketing knowledge and understanding of target group marketing initiatives and able to make presentations to management or community organisations and experience of managing partnerships

* Understanding the benefits of physical activity for girls and women.

Desirable

* Level 2 and FA Youth Module 1 and 2

* Understanding of data protection and the recent GDPR regulations

* Up to date, FA or relevant certifications in Emergency Aid and Safeguarding

* Full driving licence and access to transport

* Friendly and outgoing, can do attitude; Sensitivity, flexibility and resilience; Enthusiasm and initiative

* Willing to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as appropriate
