We have a new and exciting opportunity within CANW for a Chief Operating Officer to be part of the senior leadership team at CANW andto work with and when necessary, deputise for the CEO to contribute to the development, delivery and review of the organisational Strategic Business Plan and to contribute to meeting the aims and objectives identified, ensuring our services are impactful, evidence based and high quality.


Job roles and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate effective leadership across Child Action Northwest (CANW) to ensure that the Charity has a positive impact upon the life of children, young people and families.
  • Overall accountability for the operational delivery, growth and development of sustainable Foster Care and Residential Services and ensure high quality delivery which promote excellent outcomes for children and young people.
  • Be responsible as Safeguarding practice and policy lead for CANW, chair and lead the operational safeguarding internal meeting and rolling program of audit, ensuring that policy, procedures and Trustee oversight of practice is in line with National and local expectations.


Our perfect candidate will be a team player who will help us drive forward our ambition for growth, innovation and excellence across our service portfolio along with the following attributes:

  • Social Work, Youth & Community, Education or Health (Degree or professional qualification)and/or Equivalent Senior Management Experience
  • Experience of senior management in a Third Sector, Social Enterpriseor Public Authority setting
  • Experience of Business Planning processes and action planning
