Staf

Background:

Established in 1998, Staf (Scottish Throughcare and Aftercare Forum) is a membership organisation for all those working with young people leaving care. Staf is a national organisation which represents all 32 Local authorities in Scotland and brings together organisations, practitioners, and managers from across the public, voluntary, and private sectors to work together to improve the life chances for all of Scotland’s care-experienced young people. Staf now represents over 70 diverse members. At the centre of all our work is the voice of young people leaving care and making the change that will allow them to live happy successful lives on their own terms.

 

Main Function:

To design and manage a communications and marketing strategy which compliments, and is aligned to, the wider organisational strategy and underpinning operational activity to achieve this.

Specific Duties:

· To lead the development and implementation of a digital culture within Staf for employees, volunteers, and Board Members, and to increase the engagement of our members in our digital offerings.

· To line manage, coach and mentor team members, offering support and guidance as appropriate.

· To engage with, and support employees and stakeholders in the delivery of a modern, effective and integrated communications approach using up to date communications systems.

· To produce high-quality, engaging and accessible written and visual content and publications for use across various communication channels and for audiences which include stakeholders, young people and their workers, that persuade and move people to action.

· To act as a main contributor to the strategic design and expansion of the database and the development of the membership across the wider Corporate Parenting sector.

· To plan and manage end-to-end marketing campaigns for events, member activities and Staf products and services.

· To be accountable for the management, maintenance, development and improvement of the website and social media channels.

· To expand the platform for care experienced young people and to work closely with them to ensure their voice is heard and to influence change.

· To be accountable for financial and marketing targets and to produce marketing performance reports that monitor and evaluate campaign success and report on activity.

· To work closely with Staf leadership and management team to establish good working relationships with the Scottish Government (and policy teams in particular) to position Staf to influence policy and legislation change with regards to young people who are care experienced and the workforce that supports them.

· Provide reports, analysis and action plans as required to achieve strategic plan.

· Any other duties to support the work of Staf.

· Contribute to the Knowledge Management strategy to influence policy and practice.

· Support the ‘Moving On’ strategy, as part of a whole team approach to supporting this workplan.

· Demonstrate a commitment to Childs Rights and embedding these in our models of delivery.

· Support the delivery of the Staf strategic plan underpinned by our Values: We Listen. We Care. We Love.

 

Experience and qualifications

· Relevant degree /qualification

· A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a communications, social media or creative role.

· A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the charity sector is desirable.

· Experience in a membership organisation/community orientated organisation would be beneficial.
