Community Development Manager
HARRIS HILL
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Community Development Manager to join an innovative community-based charity in Wimbledon.
The charity’s core projects focus on alleviating isolation, increasing employment opportunities, improving mental & physical health, strengthening aspirations, and creating a greater sense of community cohesion.
Salary: £32,000 – £35,000
As Community Development Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and developing several Social Inclusion projects including Premier League Kicks, Merton and Wandsworth HAF (Holiday Activity Fund) programmes, housing estate-based work, and training and employability programmes including the charity’s Dons Intern project for young volunteers.
You will also be responsible for:
- Managing the Health and Wellbeing Lead whose work streams include growing health and wellbeing provision for adults and older people working towards Merton Council’s Borough of Sport strategy, and a wider adult health project targeting adults aged 70+ funded by the City Bridge Trust.
- Managing the Women and Girls Development Officer who runs weekly Girls Squad and Wildcat sessions, leads on Girls Player Development Centre, delivers Girls Football Holiday Course, and manages Women’s Recreational and Women’s Walking Football Teams.
- The design, implementation, delivery, and required impact reporting of high quality, safe, and successful programmes, as well as developing new funding streams for projects across Southwest London.
- Maximising the community use of facilities at Plough Lane Stadium and establishing new hubs of Foundation activity in deprived areas, creating improved opportunities for local young and older people to fulfil their potential and improve their confidence, skills and resilience, as well as mental and physical wellbeing.
The successful candidate will have project management experience; developing and managing high quality community engagement programmes across the health and wellbeing, youth work, sports or social inclusion sector. Line management experience is key, alongside a proven track record of managing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, and the ability to communicate with all stakeholders at various levels within organisations. You must also be experienced in fundraising in the community development, youth work, health and wellbeing, or sport sector and have a strong understanding of safeguarding, EDI, and health and safety in a community development setting.
