Contract: Permanent basis

About Refugee Action

Refugee Action exists to work with refugees and people seeking asylum who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

About the role

Our Fundraising Team has achieved significant growth over the last five years, recruiting and stewarding thousands of new supporters, through campaigns, fundraising activities, and appeals. Now our priority is to create an agile and viable strategy to effectively manage continued growth and retain the new supporter base through accurate insight and excellent supporter experience.

The role will sit in the Data team but will be working across the Fundraising team supporting our Public Fundraising, Major Partnerships and Digital teams. It is an exciting opportunity to utilise your data skills working closely with the Supporter Database Manager to help with all aspects of the database from donation processing to imports and data cleaning.

To succeed in the role, you will need to demonstrate:

Commitment to removing barriers to power for people with lived experience, and commitment to anti-racist practices.
Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it.
Passion and motivation to raise vital funds to support refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.
Understanding of cultural diversity and the ability to work with people from a range of different cultures.
Strong experience of working with Raisers Edge, including supporting on data selections, appeal writebacks, and importing and exporting large (data sets of up to 30,000 constituents) and complex supporter data.
Experience of online and offline donation processing and coding, with a good understanding or restricted/unrestricted income structures.
Strong understanding of Fundraising and Gift Aid legislation and compliance rules.
Good communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information about data to an audience without the same level of data skills.
Good numerical skills, with the ability to record and interpret information accurately, with very good attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to deliver to agreed schedules.
Confident understanding of GDPR Data Protection legislation.

Those with lived experience as a refugee are particularly encouraged to apply

Closing date: 23:59 on 18th March 2024

Interviews: 27th March 2024 (on Zoom)
