Scope

Scope is a disability equality charity in England and Wales. Together we are Disability Gamechangers. We work to a society where all disabled people enjoy equality and fairness. We campaign tirelessly for everyday equality for disabled people.

Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is at the heart of everything we do at Scope. We’re one year into delivering our EDI strategy. It’s an important piece of work, and there’s lots still to do. So we’re looking for an EDI Lead to join us.

Permanent, 35 hours per week

Location: Here East Press Centre, 14 East Bay Lane, London, E15 2GW with working from home most of the time.

The role

We are a supportive and passionate team, led by the Head of Inclusion.

In this role you will be:

Helping Scope’s work better meet the needs of people who face multiple marginalisation. For example, providing EDI subject matter expertise to our research, policy, campaigns, services and communications teams.
Managing the delivery of a programme of EDI training for colleagues and volunteers
Interpreting and reporting on equality, diversity and inclusion data
Writing EDI-related policy and guidance for colleagues and volunteers
Joining our newly formed Accessibility and Inclusion Centre of Excellence.

For more information about the role’s responsibilities, and the skills and experience required please use the link to go to the Scope website.

About you

You might be the right person for the role if:

You are an EDI subject matter expert, confident with principles like systemic oppression, privilege, power and intersectionality
You are passionate and knowledgeable about multiple marginalisation.
You have a solid working knowledge of equalities legislation
You are confident managing complex projects

Please make sure you explain in your application, with examples, how you can meet these important skills.

We ask you to show an appreciation of Scope’s values and our ambition of everyday equality for disabled people.

Our values – pioneering, courageous, connected, open, fair

By living our values and trusting each other, we empower our colleagues to make decisions. By giving our colleagues freedom and space to spark creativity for innovation, we can push boundaries, change mindsets and be empowered to change the game with grit and determination and a sense of urgency.

Disabled candidates

We are a disability equality charity. We encourage applications from disabled people and people with impairments, conditions, and access needs. We want to create a workforce that is a true reflection of the communities we serve.

Scope will interview all disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria for the post. This is part of our commitment as a Disability Confident Leader. Just let us know in your application that you are applying under the Offer an Interview Scheme. This was previously known as the Guaranteed Interview Scheme.
