Job Description
Title: Fundraising Manager
Hours: Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid – a mix of home-based with travel to our Bristol offices 1 to 2 days per week, and to meetings in Somerset, London and other areas where Key4Life operate as needed.
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 pro rata, depending on experience
Introduction to Key4Life
Since 2012, Key4Life has been working with young men in prison and those at risk of falling into criminal behaviour to break the cycle of offending and reoffending among young men aged 18-30. Through a disciplined and proven 7- Step Model, we focus on addressing the root causes of offending, develop skills and provide opportunities to raise employability, secure employment and offer on-going support to sustain positive change. As well as supporting people to transform their lives, we also play a significant part in reducing the cost to society of reoffending.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead fundraising at Key4Life and work towards growing income to help the charity maximise its impact on young offenders and those at risk of offending.
We’re looking for a confident relationship builder who is able to bring to life the importance of our work. You will be tasked with stewarding existing relationships and growing new income from trusts and foundations, corporate relationships, individual giving and HNWIs.
You’ll be part of our senior management team and working closely with our CEO, Head of Programmes, Finance Manager and Head of Operations and ensure that fundraising activity is in-line with the overall strategic plan of the charity.
You’ll be passionate about inspiring potential donors to help us realise our vision of helping people turn their lives around and move away from crime. You’ll also want to be part of a supportive, passionate and friendly team and contribute to Key4Life being a great place to work.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, research and secure funding from a variety of income streams including trusts and foundations (this role includes writing grant applications on a regular basis, including all sizes of grant), businesses, high net worth individuals and individuals.
Deliver excellent stewardship of Key4Life’s donors to encourage retention and income growth. This will include writing impact reports, planning meetings/updates and sending regular newsletters
Undertake prospect research to grow the fundraising pipeline and build relationships with new trusts, major donors and corporates to generate new income
Ensure our data is kept up to date, accurate and is utilised to support high-quality pipeline and relationship management. This includes managing the systems that we use to store data and manage our pipeline
Plan and deliver donor-facing communications and events, including our e-newsletter, social media content and impact reports
Develop and grow our individual giving income stream
Work with the CEO and Finance Manager to identify funding priorities and agree project budgets
Support the preparation of sponsorship contracts, ensuring sponsors benefits are fulfilled where required
Support the wider team in the design and delivery of an annual gala event
Work alongside the CEO and Finance & Operations Manager to help develop realistic income budgets monitor those with quarterly forecasting to ensure fundraising income is in line with the organisation’s strategic and operational plans
Work with the Finance Manager to ensure all donations are properly processed and recorded, and all thank you letters are completed in a timely fashion
To work with other staff to ensure useful and relevant material (monitoring, evaluation, case studies etc) is gathered across projects, for detailed and timely reporting to funders and the creation of compelling fundraising material
To input into the future development of the fundraising strategy
Adhere to and implement relevant policies, including safeguarding, equal opportunities and Health and Safety
Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. This includes adherence to fundraising best practices, data protection regulations, and transparency in financial reporting
Initially be responsible for the majority of the fundraising, building up to line managing a small staff team (as we develop the fundraising function) Person Specification
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Essential
Strong experience of building and growing relationships with trusts and foundations, high net worth individuals, business leaders or similar senior stakeholders
A proven track-record of creating and executing fundraising strategies and growing income over time
Excellent copy writing that is compelling, effective and persuasive
Experience of managing a fundraising pipeline, managing budgets and tracking income performance
Ability to manage a varied workload and competing priorities effectivelyDesirable
A clean UK driving license and access to a car
Experience of being part of a senior management team
Experience of line managing staff
