Age UK are recruiting for Quality Assessors to join a team of assessors who conduct assessments of services that require either Quality Advice Standard or Quality Information and Signposting Standard assessment.

This exciting position offers home-based working and the opportunity to work with committed colleagues across Age UK’s wide network. Occasional travel will be required for team meetings and partner visits.

Utilising your skills and experience within a similar field, you will carry out quality assessments of our services, produce written reports on your findings and contribute toward the continuous improvement of services provided by the charity.

Please note – This is a zero hours contract opportunity, offering ad-hoc hours. This is not a permanent, guaranteed role.

Pay for this ad-hoc role is £23.50 per hour and £11 per hour for travel of over two hours.

Must haves:

  • Extensive and relevant experience in an advice service in at least 2 of the following areas of law: welfare benefits, community care, housing* Demonstrable experience of supervision of advice work* Experience maintaining case recording systems and procedures, ideally electronic.* Knowledge and understanding of good practice in managing and delivering information and advice services.* Relevant knowledge of key advice issues affecting older people across at least 2 areas of law: welfare benefits, community care, housing.* Effective communication skills, both interpersonal skills and the ability to write effective reports.* Ability to make rigorous, fair and impartial assessments against benchmarks of I&A services.* Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage workload and prioritise.* Strong written skills, including being able to edit reports and match indicators to evidence.* Good time management skills, and the ability to meet deadlines

Great to haves:* Understanding of the issues affecting older people seeking advice.* Good IT skills including an ability to use Microsoft Office, and online systems for bookings, assessing case records.* Clear understanding of the principles of confidentiality and data protection.* Knowledge and understanding of the equality and diversity issues affecting the delivery of I&A services.

Any other relevant details* You’ll need to be able to travel to a range of locations for assessments and for meetings at the London Office in 1 America Square, London. These may involve overnight stays

What we offer in return

  • Competitive hourly rate for ad-hoc hours (as and when required)
  • Additional £11.00 p.h. for travel over two hours
