The 1zu1 online Advent calendar presents a different development cooperation project and its partner country every day of Advent.
On the 1zu1 website, a window into a different country can be opened every day during the Christmas period - now for the seventh time. This is a direct and very personal way of discovering EZA projects on the 1zu1 networking platform. The projects range from an orphanage in Thailand to an aid project for families in Kenya and the fight against poverty in Nepal to social development in India. The initiators of the 24 projects are spread all over Austria.
The digital 1zu1 Advent calendar shows pictures, texts and recipes from a different country every day and presents the respective project. During the 24 days of the pre-Christmas period, visitors to the website learn about 24 different development cooperation projects.
Anyone who wants to actively participate is invited to get in touch with the initiative that appeals to them the most.
The cover of this year's Advent calendar is designed by the artist Andrea Knabl from Vienna. Find out more in the 1zu1 Advent calendar.
"Developing networks, networking development" is the motto of 1zu1, an initiative of the association SOL - People for Solidarity, Ecology and Lifestyle and the Development Aid Club. SOL bundles over 100 small organizations and associations in the field of development cooperation throughout Austria under 1zu1. This creates a unique platform for smaller development cooperation initiatives to present themselves, network and receive further training. 1zu1 offers small organizations workshops and materials on topics chosen by the organizations themselves. The initiatives are also advertised on the 1zu1 website. In this way, the networking platform enables committed people to establish direct 1zu1 contact in the respective countries and with specific development cooperation projects.
Direct contact with the people in the target country makes all the difference
Each of the initiatives presented in the Advent calendar is in direct contact with the people from its project partner country and implements specific projects there together with them. These include landmine projects in Burma, education projects in Cape Verde, school projects in India, initiatives for basic medical care in Nepal and support for children and young people in Burundi. For interested donors, this means the opportunity to choose exactly the project they want to support from a wide range of projects. The 1zu1 initiatives welcome financial support as well as "time donations" and active participation in the project.
