IT solutions for NGOs

Via the online donation portal Stifter-helfen.at , non-profit organizations in Austria can receive software and hardware donations from well-known IT donors in order to optimize work processes and keep their IT infrastructure budgets low. The product list is very diverse and can be viewed here.

As part of the Software Donation Program, Microsoft donated software worth 1 million euros in Austria in 2014 alone. We at NGOJobs also received a tablet with Windows 8.1. as part of a cooperation, which can be converted into a laptop in one easy step - very practical!

We were also at the NGO Connection Day on 5 May, which was organized by Microsoft Austria together with the Fundraising Verband Austria and Stifer-helfen.at. 50 NGO representatives from various areas of the non-profit sector came together. Experts discussed current technologies and their contribution to solving social problems.

This year's focus was on the topic of mobility and collaboration in virtual teams regardless of time and place - made possible by cloud technologies. The most important technology trends in the NGO sector were presented: From cloud, to mobile, to social networks or tracking, there was an insight into technologies that have the potential to make the world a better place. One presentation was entitled "The cloud - what is it and how can my organization benefit from it?". Practical examples were also presented and there was a live demo of how networked working works in practice: From secure central data storage to online meetings and enterprise social.

The presentation of the event can be read here.
