International Advocacy Coordinator (m/f/d) – 26 hours per week

Starting date: 1 January 2027
Location: Vienna, Austria

CONCORDIA Sozialprojekte is an international aid organisation supporting children, young people and families in vulnerable situations in Romania, Bulgaria, the Republic of Moldova, Kosovo and Austria. Our vision is a world in which children and young people can lead self-determined lives free from exclusion.

Are you passionate about European politics, enjoy building strategic networks and want to help shape social change? Then bring the insights and experience gained through our hands-on social work into European political debates and help us strengthen the voice of children and young people at EU level.

Your role

  • You coordinate CONCORDIA’s international advocacy strategy and shape our policy engagement at European level.
  • You position CONCORDIA as a strong voice in European policy debates and build strategic relationships with EU institutions, networks and partners.
  • You connect the experiences of our programme countries with European developments, promote the participation of children and young people, and ensure their perspectives are reflected in political decision-making processes.

Your responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement the international advocacy strategy and action plan, with a particular focus on European advocacy and policy influence.
  • Build relationships with EU institutions and make use of opportunities for political dialogue, lobbying and promoting CONCORDIA’s positions.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with European NGOs, networks and institutional stakeholders, and initiate joint advocacy activities.
  • Work closely with national advocacy leads and bring the experiences and concerns of our programme countries into European political processes.
  • Promote the participation of children and young people, particularly through the International Youth Council, in European dialogues and advocacy processes.
  • Represent CONCORDIA in European networks and at political events, and collaborate with the Communications & PR team to strengthen our visibility.
  • Identify EU funding opportunities and strategic project partnerships, and support the development of European project proposals.
  • Translate the experiences and impact of our work in the programme countries into evidence and messages for European advocacy, while promoting the exchange of expertise across CONCORDIA.

Your profile

  • Experience in advocacy, public affairs, EU politics, international relations or policy engagement – ideally within the NGO or social sector.
  • A sound understanding of European institutions, political decision-making processes and relevant EU policy areas.
  • Experience in building strategic networks and partnerships, as well as an enthusiasm for working across national and cultural boundaries.
  • The ability to analyse complex political and social issues and develop compelling policy positions based on your findings.
  • An interest in children’s rights, social inclusion, poverty reduction, education and child protection.
  • A confident and persuasive manner, combined with excellent communication, networking and negotiation skills.
  • A proactive approach, strategic thinking and a structured, solution-oriented way of working.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, knowledge of German is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Willingness to undertake regular international business travel (approximately 30% of working time).

What we offer

  • Meaningful work with an established NGO with ambitious goals.
  • The opportunity to actively shape European politics and social developments.
  • An international working environment and close collaboration with our programme countries.
  • A wide range of contacts with European institutions, networks and civil society organisations.
  • A high degree of personal responsibility and scope to shape a strategically important area of work.
  • Opportunities for professional development through training and participation in European and international conferences.
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work from home.
  • A collaborative, international team with flat hierarchies.
  • No open-plan office, a location close to Augarten and Praterstern, and excellent public transport connections. Please note: Our offices are located on the first and second floors and, unfortunately, there is no lift.

We celebrate what makes every person unique. Different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives foster creativity, innovation and performance. Disclosing a disability will have no impact on your application! Quite the opposite – we warmly welcome your application and would love the opportunity to get to know you.

For this position, we offer a gross monthly salary of at least EUR 2,730 for 26 hours per week, depending on qualifications and professional experience.

Please send your application documents, including a cover letter, by 27 November 2026 at the latest, exclusively by email to: bewerbung@concordia.or.at
