That was the House of Jobs 2019!
On June 12, there was a lot of asking, talking, interviewing, putting on headphones, taking out flyers, ordering newsletters, making career plans, thinking about the future, getting to know the NGO sector better and so on and so forth.

Silent talk with NGOs
This year, five great organizations were guests - who also have paid jobs to offer:
- Jugend am Werk
- Greenpeace
- Ärzte ohne Grenzen (Doctors without borders)
- Not in God's name
- CARE Austria
In 20-minute silent talks, Sarah from NGOJobs interviewed the organizations on the topics of everyday working life, career entry, career opportunities and application modalities. The answers from different NGOs were particularly interesting, although they were very similar.
Greenpeace in conversation
„Ein Wort, das deinen Job am besten zusammenfasst?“ – „Grün!“, sagte Lena von Greenpeace.
Application modalities were also a topic - unsolicited applications are of little use at Greenpeace, the HR manager revealed. However, the queue that had gathered at the Greenpeace employees' offices to ask questions was absolutely impressive and extremely proactive.
Youth at work in conversation
Many positions, especially in social work, are almost always available - as we learned in this silent talk. We also now know the main client group of Jugend am Werk: people with disabilities - and know that you have to be highly motivated to work there.
Doctors Without Borders in conversation
Ein klingender Name – diese NGO! Auch bei diesem Silent Talk war das Interesse groß, als die HR-Abteilung interviewt wurde. Wir sprachen über die drei Aufgabenfelder, in denen man bei Ärzte ohne Grenzen einsteigen bzw. grundsätzlich tätig sein kann: Büroteam in Wien, Direct Dialog Campaigning oder Einsatzkräfte („Expats im Feld“).
CARE in conversation
Woher man CARE (immer noch) kenne? – „Von den CARE-Paketen“ (Nahrungsmittelpakete aus Amerika für People in Europa nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg). Heute ist CARE aber viel mehr als das – ein „CARE-Paket“ kann z.B. auch Bildung bedeuten. Außerdem thematisierte das Interview den starken Fokus der Arbeit von CARE auf Frauen – diese sind bei Krisen und Katastrophen nämlich stets am meisten davon betroffen.
Not in God's Name in conversation
Zum Silent Talk mit Not in God’s Name kamen viele Interessierte, die neugierig waren – auf einen Verein, den man vielleicht noch nicht (so) kennt – dessen Name und Konzept aber spannend klingt. Die Projektkoordinatorin klärte uns auf: Not in God’s Name macht Radikalisierungs- und Gewaltprävention, und dies im Rahmen von Workshops an Schulen. Sogenannte „Testimonials“ begleiten diese Workshops – sie haben unterschiedlichste Backgrounds (Sprache, Religion, Herkunft) und sind im Kampfsport aktiv. Die Workshops haben also nicht nur einen theoretischen, sondern auch einen praktischen, gruppendynamisch sehr wichtigen Teil.
