Last week the big job and career fair unisuccess took place at the University of Vienna and we were there. Visitors to the fair were able to make direct contact with NGO employees in a sporty and interactive way. A review:
Just like last year, hundreds of committed people gathered throughout the day to find out more about job opportunities in the non-profit sector. Exciting discussions were held with students, interested parties and job seekers. The areas of interest of our stand visitors were as broad as the possible fields of activity in the non-profit sector.
The NGO sessions were particularly popular again this year. Large and small NGOs - there were 10 in total - each spent around an hour answering visitors' questions. They reported on their day-to-day work and the opportunities to get involved in their organizations. They included pro mente Wien, Teach for Austria, Concordia LenZ, Doctors Without Borders, Engineers Without Borders, Start Wien - Das Jugendcollege, Wiener Tafel, Käfig League (Caritas Vienna), Greenpeace and WGE!- Living together.
The representative of Wiener Tafel has a particularly nice and surprising experience to report. A few minutes before her consultation hour began, a large group of people gathered with printed advertisements for volunteer positions at Wiener Tafel in their hands. When it started, it turned out that the group had all come from a German language course. They wanted to find out in person how they could volunteer at Wiener Tafel.
The NGOJobs stand was also partly sporty: the two representatives of the Käfig League project (Caritas Vienna) jokingly asked passers-by to show off their soccer skills and then immediately recruited them as coaches for their fantastic soccer project.
After the many inspiring discussions and encounters, we would like to say a huge thank you to all participants and visitors. Especially to the many visitors to the presentation "Working with passion: jobs and volunteering in NGOs" . It was a great day and we are delighted that we were able to be represented at unisuccess again.
