UEG, or United European Gastroenterology, is the leading non-profit organization for excellence in digestive health. The mission of UEG is to improve the prevention and care of digestive diseases in Europe through providing education, supporting research and improving clinical standards. As Europe’s home for multidisciplinary gastroenterology, we unite professionals from national and specialist societies, individual digestive health experts and related scientists from all fields and career stages. The open position

We are seeking a dynamic Project Manager for Governance & Community Management to join our team. This role plays a critical part in supporting the organisation’s governance functions and fostering a vibrant, informed, and engaged multi-stakeholder community. The ideal candidate will have experience in non-profit governance, stakeholder engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration ideally in the scientific & healthcare sector.

Responsibilities

  • Independent administrative and organizational support, meeting preparation and follow up with volunteer-led boards.
  • Collaborating with senior volunteer leadership to align governance and community strategies with the organisation’s mission.
  • Maintaining accurate membership records and statistics.
  • Coordinating and implementing governance processes and regulations, ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and organisational standards.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact and maintaining strong relationships with member societies, volunteers, and key stakeholders.
  • Designing and implementing targeted communication & campaigns with stakeholder groups.
  • Administration of Award Programmes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of work experience or corresponding education in governance, stakeholder engagement, or community management — preferably in the scientific & healthcare, or non-profit sector.
  • Knowledge of non-profit governance structures, management of volunteer-led boards and legal frameworks in a European context.
  • Confidence and experience in working with senior academics and volunteer-led boards in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Business-level fluency in English (oral and written); German language skills are an advantage.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • A collaborative, inclusive mindset and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
