About UEG

UEG, or United European Gastroenterology, is a professional non-profit organisation combining all the leading European medical specialist and national societies focusing on digestive health. The mission of UEG is to improve the prevention and care of digestive diseases in Europe through providing education, supporting research and improving clinical standards. The open position

We’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scientific Programme Manager who enjoys working with senior academics and volunteer-led boards. You’ll collaborate with a passionate internal team as well as gastroenterologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals from across Europe to develop and deliver UEG Week’s renowned multidisciplinary scientific programme. UEG Week is held once a year and hosts up to 13,000 international participants, 500 invited speakers and 3,000 abstract presenters from around the world.

The ideal candidate can both operationalize processes and think strategically to navigate the complexity of the scientific programme of UEG Week. Your main responsibility will be to manage the invited scientific programme, including the postgraduate teaching programme, contributing directly to the quality and impact of Europe’s leading gastroenterology congress.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the unit lead in the operational planning and delivery of the scientific programme for UEG Week.
  • Work closely with invited speakers and external suppliers to implement a high-quality, multidisciplinary scientific programme.
  • Manage associated programmes at UEG Week, such as the postgraduate training programme.
  • Lead scientific collaborations related to UEG Week between UEG and other international gastroenterology organisations.
  • Prepare for, participate in, and follow up on meetings with the UEG Scientific Committee.
  • Prepare reports and create professional presentations

 

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • At least one year of experience in scientific programme management or a related field
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills with business-level fluency in English (both written and spoken); German language skills are an asset
  • Strong digital literacy and technical competence
  • Proven project management and organizational abilities
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data interpretation

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
