LOCAL CONFERENCE OF YOUTH AUSTRIA 2019 - the Austrian Youth Climate Conference in Vienna
The youth NGO CliMates Austria cordially invites you to the Austrian Youth Climate Conference!
The Local Conference of Youth Austria - LCOY Austria for short - is the official Austrian youth climate conference for all young people who want to address the climate crisis. From November 8 to 10, 2019, 300 committed young people between the ages of 15 and 30 will meet in Vienna to work together for their future.
Under the motto "connecting for climate action", the conference offers the opportunity to obtain comprehensive information about the climate crisis, exchange ideas and establish networks with research institutes, environmental protection organizations and sustainable start-ups as well as with other participants over the course of three days. In over 50 workshops, participants will learn how the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change writes its scientific reports, how environmental journalism can save the world and what social media has to do with climate protection. No prior knowledge is required, so anyone can register!

There will also be two major panel discussions on the topics of Austrian climate policy and the political commitment of young people. Experienced experts will provide an overview of the current national status of climate protection and what still needs to be done. These include Prof. Helga Kromp-Kolb, scientist at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna; Katharina Rogenhofer, spokesperson for the climate referendum; and Helmut Hojesky, coordinator for climate policy at the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism. Other well-known names will also be taking part in the discussions: Global2000, Fridays for Future, System change not climate change and the climate referendum. As in the previous year, the City of Vienna is sponsoring LCOY Austria and it is supported by Federal President Alexander van der Bellen.
The organizing team is made up of motivated volunteers, students and professionals from the youth NGO CliMates Austria, who encourage young people to raise their political voices and become part of the global movement against the climate crisis.

The LCOY Austria will take place from November 8 to 10, 2019 at the Volkshochschule Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus in
Vienna (Schwendergasse 41, 1150 Vienna).
It is aimed at all young people between the ages of 15 and 30 who are resident in Austria.
